1 Prepare the soil - Remove rocks, weeds and debris from area to be turfed. Work soil to a depth of 6". If material is required to bring the grade to a desired level, to improve texture of the existing soil, add our lab tested Grow Mix (top soil). It contains all the nutrients to start your lawn right.
2 Grade The Surface - Carefully level all surfaces to be turfed. Soil surface should be 1" below walks, patios, driveways, to accommodate turf thickness. A light rolling will show up soil depressions or surface irregularities.
3 Fertilizer - Apply fertilizer on to the soil evenly at the recommended rate. Rake in lightly. Be sure the soil is even and smooth before laying Westcoast Premium # 1 or Westcoast Emerald green # 2. Use a turf starter such as 1O-20-10 fertilizer.
4 Lay The Turf - Lay sod immediately upon arrival. Lay first strip of turf along the straight line (use string as a guide in irregular areas). Butt joints tightly, do not overlap edges. On second strip, stagger joints much as in laying brics. Use a sharp knife to cut turf to fit curves, edges or sprinkler heads.
5Water -
Water thoroughly to avoid having dry patches in your lawn and to promote even growth. The warmer the weather, the greater need for a thorough application of water.
6 Roll The Turf - Roll to even out the turf joints and to ensure a good contact between turf roots and the soil. Apply fertilizer and give adequate final watering. Watering is also effective in eliminating air pockets as well as rolling.
7Irrigate - Keep the turf and soil moist for at least 2 to 3 weeks to assist the turf edges to knit and the roots to become established.
Important - Steps 5 and 7 - watering must be followed for good results.
